Stretching Limits

What did you try last week that made you uncomfortable?

If you want to build muscle, you need to push it beyond the breaking point—the point where the muscle gets slightly damaged. Once the body has had time to repair the muscle, it will be stronger than before.

The same mechanism applies when we want to grow professionally: We need to stretch ourselves until we cross the boundaries of our comfort zone. This stretches our limits, opening the door to new and exciting opportunities.

What often holds us back is the fragility of our own ego. Trying something new risks failure. Failure damages our self-image.

Yet, the more we grow accustomed to discomfort and failures, the more our ego desensitizes, and the faster we grow.
